Thomas Hamilton in the early 1800s when it was called the New North Free Church, but now the oldest student-run theatre in Britain); and in the middle, undergoing renovation, is Edinburgh University's
McEwen Hall (magnificent inside, sneak a look if you can) designed in 1874 by
Sir Robert Rowand Anderson.
